В Пакистане дети в школе учат, что континентов семь: Европа, Азия, С. Америка, Ю. Америка, Африка, Австралия и Антарктида.

В Пакистане (в бОльшей его части) не принято пользоваться разделочными досками для готовки. Еду режут на весу. Если надо разделывать мясо, то один человек его держит, а другой - режет.

В США тоже учат, что есть два континента - Азия и Европа...

Нет, они учат, что 6, но Америка - это один континент, а Европа и Азия - разные. :(
Все мои просьбы подойти к учителю и прояснить этот вопрос пока не увенчались успехом. Т.е. просто попросить дать определение континента и уточнить как туда подпадают отдельно Европа и Азия? Но дочери это пофиг...

слушай, а в моем колледже здесь учили, что Америки - две :)
...про Азию и Европу я так, помню, обалдела, что не спросила сразу же на лекции, когда он между прочим это упомянул; а потом уже поздно было - последнее занятие, экзамен, и я прошляпила... Когджа у тебя дочь соберется, расскажи мне, пож-та, что ей ответили!

Ну вот, собственно, что родная Википедия говорит:

"A continent is one of several large landmasses on Earth. They are generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria, with seven regions commonly regarded as continents in most English-speaking countries – they are (from largest in size to smallest): Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia"

Я так понимаю, что здесь путаница. В России было четко - 6 материков и 6 частей света, но они были не тождественны.
А здесь четко не разграничили, но число 6 присутствует, поэтому все перепуталось. :(
